Course Description

Your knife is the most important tool in the kitchen.  Chef Grant will begin with a lecture on the terminology used to describe every type of knife used in the modern professional kitchen. Then you will move into the kitchen and watch chef demonstrate the classic techniques to cut fruits and vegetables, followed by a demonstration of practical cuts for the home cook. All students will then get to practice cutting fruits and vegetables under instructor guidance. We’ll wrap up the class with a Q&A session on knives, cutting boards and proper maintenance. 

Learner Outcomes

Students will learn how to safely handle a chef's knife. Students will learn how to produce standard home and production food cuts.
