Course Description

Cultural factors impact interpretations of messages, the words and body language. Multi-generational households and work environments create for diverse communication challenges and situations. Even people from the same culture or region may have differences in values and the way they communicate with others. Developing an understanding and knowledge of differences and experiences helps to promote acceptance and respect of other ideas and viewpoints. 

Learner Outcomes

  1. Identify necessary skills to improve intercultural and cross-cultural communication skills. 
  2. Identify generational and regional differences and adapt communication styles to respective individuals. 
  3. Use language that is appropriate to individual groups. 
  4. Use non-verbal and vocal skills appropriate to culturally mixed groups.
