The jury is in!  Sleep is possibly the most important predictor of how long you will live and how healthy you will feel.  Poor sleep does more harm that just making you tired.  Strong evidence links poor sleep habits to obesity, diabetes, depression, neurologic disorders, memory problems, and high blood pressure. You will leave this workshop well prepared to improve your sleep and sleep habits.

Keys to Better Brain Health

With a few key choices, you can improve your brain and nervous system health, as well as take steps toward preventing neurologic disease. In this workshop you will learn ways to boost your brain wellness and reduce the possibility of developing diseases, such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.  You will learn ways to address dangerous nutritional imbalances, inflammation and oxidation, reduce your exposure to environmental toxins, and improve your digestive system health. 

Your Habits and Your Health: Simple Steps for Making Positive Change

When was the last time you made a commitment to improve your health by starting a new habit or getting rid of an old one? Too often, these commitments end in disappointment and setbacks because we do not follow through. This workshop, built on evidence from neuroscience, will provide you with insight into the human nature we all share, and guide you toward successfully practicing habits that will improve your well-being.

Learner Outcomes

Improve Your Sleep, Improve Your Health

 

At the end of the course, each student will be able to:

  1. Assess their sleep quality
  2. Determine if they are getting enough sleep
  3. Explain the relationship between poor sleep and several health issues such as obesity, diabetes, neurologic diseases, mood disorders, cognitive problems, and cardiovascular disease
  4. Independently practice relaxation and mindfulness techniques
  5. Evaluate daytime and nighttime habits for impact on sleep health

  1. Explain the relationship between brain health and several factors such as nutritional imbalances, inflammation, oxidation, toxins, and digestive system health

  1. Identify specific steps for changing habits
  2. Increase awareness of behaviors and attitudes that interfere with making positive change
