Course Description

This 6-week course introduces the fundamentals of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), necessary math skills, and environmentally safe refrigerant service. The online, on-demand course prepares participants for the EPA Section 608 Universal Certification Exam offered upon successful completion of the course (exam fee and online exam proctoring included).

Course Outline

Introduces the fundamentals of heating, refrigeration, air conditioning, and basic controls. The course consists of a math for trades review, online coursework in heating, refrigeration, air conditioning and basic controls, and EPA Section 608 exam preparation and practice tests.

Learner Outcomes

At the end of this course, the student will be able to:

1. Identify the different tools and equipment used by an HVAC technician.

2. Demonstrate understanding of the fundamental concepts and techniques needed to maintain appliances that use refrigerants.

3. Describe the differences between reuse, recycle, & recovery.

4. Identify the different refrigerant characteristics. 5.Complete the EPA 608 Certification Exam and earn at least a Type 1 - Universal certification.

Students have up to 5 exam attempts to earn EPA 608 Universal Certification.
