Course Description

This course is an introduction to Shakespeare. You will spend two weeks on a representative work of each of four major categories of plays that Shakespeare wrote: Tragedies (Hamlet), Histories (Henry IV, Part 1) Comedies (Much Ado About Nothing), and Romances (The Tempest). You will also briefly look at some of the major sonnets he wrote. There will be discussion of the historical and biographical context of the works but most of the class periods will be spent on discussing and analyzing the works.

Notes

Dr. Richard Randolph has a Ph.D. in English from the University of New Mexico (1996). He is a professor of English at Kaua'i Community College who regularly teaches British, World, and American literature.
