Course Description

This program will introduce English, island sustainability and Hawaiian culture to Hachijo Island and Niijima Island High School students participating in the 4-days intensive program for Hachijo High School and Niijima High School students at the University of Hawai`i Kapi`olani Community College.  The training program will focus on English language and various cultural aspects in Hawai`i traditional and modern.  Students are encouraged to speak English at most, deepen cross cultural understanding, and broaden their horizons.  

SLO:  1).  Describe the basic principles and concepts of history and culture of Hawai`i.

2).  Demonstrate an example of business, professions and lifestyle in Hawai`i.

3).  Apply the knowledge of English language concepts and skills in actual classroom and interview setting
