Course Description

This workshop gives an overview of the different facets of Hawaii’s visitor industry. Learn to research statistical information and demographic data on Hawaii’s visitors, discover current trends that influence the visitor market, and explore the numerous career options available to individuals wishing to pursue a career in Hawaii's thriving tourism industry.

Learner Outcomes

By the end of the course, participants will be able to use the knowledge gained to: Explain the importance of all employees who work in the hospitality and tourism industry Describe Professional Standards as defined by the Hawai‘i Tourism Authority Describe the needs and interests of various stakeholders in the tourism industry (guest, hotel, government, etc.) Describe the organizational and operational characteristics of visitor industry related businesses Describe the impact of tourism in Hawai‘i Demonstrate how to find the most current and accurate business resources pertaining to Hawai‘i and tourism Employment Training Funds available: http://labor.hawaii.gov/wdd/home/employers/etf/micro/ This course is recommended for the following programs: Certification for Hawaii's Professional Tour Guides Certificate for Customer Service in Hawai‘i Career Success in Hawaii's Service Industries
