Course Description

If you like being creative in the kitchen or are interested in exploring a career in the Hospitality Industry, this is the Summer Camp for you! You will learn about culinary sanitation, nutrition, wellness and sustainability, and learn to prepare rolled sushi, create pasta from scratch, make and bake pizza and mix salad dressing for composed salads. Our chef instructor will guide you through culinary basics and hospitality careers in Hawai’i as we practice seasoning, flavoring and cooking techniques.

*Please wear comfortable closed-toe shoes and bring a full water bottle to classes.

Location: Laulima 106 Kitchen

Open to Students 13-18 years old.

Explore careers and develop skills in the culinary arts! Learn kitchen safety, measurement, recipes, and techniques with plant-based ingredients. Lab will focus on basic skill sets. Perfect for those with interests in food, cooking careers and self-empowerment. Students please wear closed-toed shoes, white shirts and dark shorts or pants. Parents or Guardians will please escort students in person to the class on the first day. All cooking enthusiasts are welcome! (Suggested for those in Grades 8-12, who have preliminary cooking experience or have taken the previous cooking courses.)
