Course Description

Baking Camps

If you are looking for fun hands-on learning this summer, check out Windward Community College's Baking Camps. Perfect for yourself, family and friends, we welcome anyone over the age of 13 (minors need parental consent), all you need is an interest and passion for all things baking.  

Students will focus on learning, planning, organizing and executing traditional recipes to add to their skill set. In our baking camps students will learn the fundamental techniques that will lead to a lifetime of success in baking. Please check the particular course description for daily themes.

These classes and camps fill up fast so register early. More dates may become available if the class you want is sold out. Classes are not vegan, vegetarian or gluten free. Please let us know at the time of registration if your child has any food allergies or other special needs. Lunch will be provided. Please bring your own containers and boxes for your products, apron, kitchen towel and any other personal items that you may need. 

SAFETY GUIDELINES
As a safety precaution participants should wear covered shoes and long pants. Only the student will be allowed to attend the course.

Summer Baking Camp I (Yeast Breads & Cookies)

In this 2-day hands on series, students will make a variety of yeast breads and cookies. No experience required, just a passion for baking. We will demystify the challenges of Yeast Breads as you make Italian, French, Italian, Sweet Rolls and Cinnamon Raisin.  Learn some simple tricks to elevate your bread making skills or learn to make your first loaf of bread.

Who doesn’t love cookies? Discover how to create all of the different types and textures along with dough and baking tips to achieve the best looking and tastiest cookies ever.

Bring along some large take home containers because you will take home loads of goodies. Lunch will be provided. Youth age 13 and over are welcome with parental consent. Download Parental Consent Form

Cakes are always the center of a celebration. Elevate your baking skills to create beautiful and delicious works of art. Learn about the importance of ingredients, preparation, baking, filling and icing techniques. We will make a chocolate cake, carrot cake and variations of other cakes and cupcakes to add to
your recipe repertoire.
