Course Description

SLIM/INNOVATE Hawaii Internship Program is a semester-long internship pairing interns with manufacturing companies to assess and improve processes to reduce resource use and improve productivity. Interns may focus on energy efficiency, water use, waste reduction, and lean office and production processes. Data collection technology and production mapping strategies for assessment, as well as data management and data reporting are taught. A visual and oral presentation and a written report are presented to the manufacturing company that describes finding and recommendations are the end deliverable.

Prerequisites

Course work or non-credit trainings in energy efficiency or water efficiency or green building. OR significant work experience in energy, water and/or waste management fields. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint is recommended.
