Course Description

Are you looking for ways to support English learners and English learners with disabilities in online and blended learning environments? Are you overwhelmed by the number of digital tools and applications that are out there? This webinar will give an overview of how to intentionally use a few free (and freemium) digital tools to reduce barriers, increase access, and support language development and engagement.

Speaker Bio:

Caroline (Cary) Torres is an Assistant Professor at Kapi`olani Community College, teaching Second Language Teaching to pre-service and in-service Department of Education teachers and college writing to non-native speakers of English. Her work and research interests focus on supporting English learners, students with disabilities, and English learners with disabilities, as well as Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Self-Regulated Strategy Development to support writing, and digital tools to support learners.

Learner Outcomes

By the end of the webinar, participants will:

  1. have ideas on how to identify barriers in their curriculum and instruction and how they can reduce these barriers with digital tools.

  2. have an understanding of how to intentionally use digital tools to support lesson goals and students' academic, language development, and engagement.
