GeoMedia enables you to bring data from disparate databases into a single GIS environment for viewing, analysis, and presentation. This introductory course will cover the core essentials of geographic information system theory and practice including:
- What is mapping and GIS
- GIS applications and real world practices
- Projections, data, coordinate systems, scale, and more
- Common GIS file types and methodologies
- Digitizing and data capture (including aerial photography and GPS)
- Spatial database design and use
- Basic spatial analysis
- Basic cartography and map production (symbolization, thematic maps, etc.)
- Data quality and metadata issues
