Course Description

This course covers the advanced knowledge and understanding of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and pathology as applied to massage therapy. Clinical assessments with treatment applications along with additional medical terminology will be incorporated throughout the course. Palpation and massage theory will be applied to simulated pathological conditions. Emphasis is on the upper body.

Learner Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate various clinical assessment protocols for soft tissue.
  2. Describe the cause and effect relationship of common musculoskeletal pathologies as it relates to massage therapy
  3. Demonstrate clinical thinking methodology of soft tissue.
  4. Demonstrate the appropriate application of ancillary therapies
  5. Demonstrate advanced application and synthesis of information from previous trainings.

Prerequisites

Prerequisite: Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) or previous coursework in anatomy, physiology and kinesiology required. (or successful completion of KCC’s Your Body and Your Health 1 and 2.
