Course Description

Successful completion of this intensive, hands-on course serves as a direct pathway to becoming a registered apprentice with the Hawaii Carpenters Apprenticeship Program. Training starts with carpentry fundamentals and basic tool use, construction math, basic print reading, and culminates with a 2-week paid internship at an active construction site.

Successful completion of this intensive, hands-on course serves as a direct pathway to becoming a registered apprentice with the Hawaii Carpenters Apprenticeship Program. Training starts with carpentry fundamentals and basic tool use, construction math, basic print reading, and culminates with a 2-week paid internship at an active construction site.

Prerequisites

1. Must be 17 years old minimum.

2. Must be available for a virtual Zoom interview.

3. Must attend on-site orientation at the Hawaii Carpenter and Drywaller Fund Training Center.

4. Provide own transportation to and from the training facility in Kapolei and training sites on Oahu.

5. Must be able to participate in on-the-job internship.

6. Have proper work attire: high visibility shirt or vest, long work pants, work shoes/boots (steel-toed preferred).

7. Lift 75 lbs (Carpenters or Millwrights) or 100 lbs (Drywallers).
