Course Description
This course is to prepare those interested in developing entry-level skills, knowledge and ability to protect and defend the network systems in a cybersecurity environment and interested in taking the CompTIA Security + Certification Exam which can lead to an entry-level position such as an Information Security Analyst. Cybercrime is one of the most significant and evolving threats to our ever-changing digital environment.Course Outline

Learner Outcomes
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:- detect various types of compromise and have an understanding of penetration testing an vulnerability scanning concepts (threats, attacks, and vulnerabilities)
- install, configure, and deploy network while assessing and troubleshooting issues to support organizational security (technologies and tools)
- implement secure network architecture concepts and systems design (architecture and design)
- install and configure identity and access services, as well as management controls (identity and access management)
- implement and summarize risk management best practices and business impact (risk management)
- understand of basic cryptographic concepts, algorithms, and functions. Install and configure wireless security settings and implement public key infrastructure (cryptography and PKI)
Notes
Prerequisites
1. 1-2 years prior IT experience.2. Successfully passed the Comp TIA A+ or IT Fundamentals Certification Exam or successfully passed the Introduction to IT and A+ Certification Exam Prep course offered at Kapi`olani Community College.
3. This course is completely online and participants will need basic computer skills such as uploading and downloading files from the Internet, PC operating system navigation skills.
4. Participants should also have reliable internet access, Internet usage skills including accessing the Internet and navigating web pages.
