Course Description

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) violations are the most common violations found by HDOA inspectors. Frequent reasons for insufficient PPE include a lack of familiarity with the types of equipment, a lack of understanding of what is legally required and comfort. This class will review the various types of PPE, discuss how applicators are protected by PPE, the legal requirements surrounding PPE, safe on and off procedures and PPE maintenance and decontamination. Additionally there will be a discussion on the dangers PPE presents, specifically reduced mobility, hearing and sight as well as heat stress management.

Learner Outcomes

Private and commercial applicators of restricted use pesticides will receive 2 recertification credits. Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
• Explain the legal requirements surrounding Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Explain how pesticide applicators are protected by PPE
