CULN3049 - Fundamentals in Pie Making
Course Description
You will learn how to perfect the ultimate flakey, pie crust! In this class, you will prepare various fillings for your summer pie and take home your creations to enjoy with your family. In addition, you will gain an understanding as to how product ingredients relate to the baking process and how temperature plays an important role in baking.Learner Outcomes
After completion, students will be able to:
Understand the basic baking and pastry mixing techniques
Make a flakey pie crust
Create and prepare various pie fillings
Understand the safety procedures of a bake shop
Identify tools and equipment

As a safety precaution, participants in all culinary classes are required to wear covered, non-slip shoes (e.g. athletic shoes) and comfortable long pants. Aprons or any other personal items may also be brought to class. The college will not be held responsible if such items are lost or stolen.
