Course Description

This course prepares students for effective career/life exploration, planning and decisions.  This course will emphasize self-assessment, the world of work information, survey of occupational clusters, and related academic preparation relevant to self-assessed interests, values and decision-making. 

Learner Outcomes

Upon the successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Engage with the developmental process of career exploration to identify career choices.
  • Critically analyze career information as it relates specifically to individualized career goals.
  • Research with depth possible careers for building upon the results of the self-assessments.
  • Connect the college majors that lead to specific careers of interest.
  • Connect the Industry Recognized Standards/Credentials that lead to specific careers of interest.
  • Investigate the educational requirements, job responsibilities, employment outlook, and earning potentials for a variety of careers stemming from self-assessment results.
  • Define their unique set of skills and experiences in which they can offer an employer.
  • Assess a body of evidence of self-discovery and career exploration in order to formulate both long term and short-term career and college related goals.
  • Set a short-term goal that has meaning, and value connected to personalized career plans.
  • Set a long-term plan that will provide motivation and inspiration for their future.

Prerequisites

1).  This course is completely online, and participants will need basic computer literacy skills such as uploading and downloading files from the internet, PC, operating system navigation skills. 

2).  Participants should also have reliable internet access, internet usage.
