Course Description

Chef Grant was the winner of the 2015 Global Taste of Korean International Cooking Competition.  Let the world champion teach you a few Korean cuisine basics, Soondubu Jjigae (soft tofu stew) with tofu made from scratch, Miyeok-guk) Korean seaweed soup with beef), and his competition winning Takjim (braised chicken with vegetables).  

 

 

Learner Outcomes

By the end of this course, students will be able to prepare soft tofu stew, seaweed soup with beef, and Takjim.

  • Students will learn proper cooking techniques for each dish.  Some of the techniques learned would include proper handling and cutting of ingredients per the requirements of each dish.
  • With cooking and preparation tips, students will be able to produce dishes in a more efficient and safe manner.
  • Students will become comfortable around the kitchen when preparing these and other Korean favorite foods.    

Prerequisites

As a safety precaution, participants in all culinary classes are required to wear covered, non-slip shoes (e.g. athletic shoes) and comfortable long pants. Aprons or any other personal items may also be brought to class. The college will not be held responsible if such items are lost or stolen.
